How to Get the Most Flavour Out of Your Christmas Turkey
As it gets closer to Christmas, you may be wondering how you can make the most of your turkey during cooking and preparing. Here are our recommendations for creating a sensational turkey that you and your guests will love.
Use Flavoured Butter
Butter is a great way to add flavour to a turkey, but why not try it infused with other flavours too? Compound butter can be made with flavourful ingredients like raw or roasted garlic, fresh herbs, citrus zest and even honey. Be creative with different flavour combinations to really get the most out of your turkey this Christmas!
When you’ve chosen your flavours, simply cube your butter and add to a food processor with your chosen flavours and pulse until blended. You can then roll it into a log shape and chill it before using it.
When your butter has set (it usually needs around 2 hours), you can stuff it underneath the skin to amp up the flavour of the meat and ensure a delicious crispy skin.
Stuff It with Aromatics
Filling your turkey with an aromatic mix instead of stuffing is a simple yet effective way to get the most flavour out of your bird. Fresh herbs like thyme, rosemary and sage along with half a lemon and some garlic and onions can add heaps of flavour, and it doesn’t take long at all.
There is a range of things that you can stuff your turkey with that adds flavour and moisture for the tastiest Christmas turkey you’ve ever had.
Brine Your Turkey
Add extra flavour to your turkey this Christmas by soaking the bird in a saltwater mixture to tenderise the meat whilst adding flavour and moisture. Take things a step further by throwing in a range of spices and herbs to add another layer of flavour. Spices like cloves, cumin seeds, and mustard seeds are a delicious combination!
